An international flight from Washington D.C. to Havana was diverted to Miami when one passenger was killed and two others injured when a flight from Los Angeles to Miami crashed, authorities said.
The Delta Air Lines flight from the U.D. to Miami on Sunday evening was diverted about 9:40 p.m. local time (10:40 a.m., Sunday GMT) to Miami International Airport, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
Delta says a passenger aboard the flight was killed, but officials didn’t say how he died.
The National Transportation Security Board said in a statement that the passenger was a U.K. citizen.
It didn’t specify what nationality.
Delta confirmed the accident but said the U, D., and H were all operated by the same company, Delta.
The airline says its flight crew was working as part of an international safety plan.
The NTSB, which is part of the Federal Aviation Administration, said that the two other passengers were flown to a hospital and were in stable condition.
