The city of Chicago was the first U.S. city to ban the use of Uber and Lyft as the companies shut down their apps last week.
The city’s ban was followed by more than 100 other U.K. cities, and the European Union on Thursday issued an unprecedented ban on Uber, which was quickly blocked by regulators in Berlin.
But the ban didn’t stop Uber from expanding into new markets in Europe and North America.
